Axle Holder
Description
Forged Aluminum Fork Axle Holder: Front Axle Seat with Integrated Caliper Mount
The forged aluminum fork axle holder is the axle seat at the bottom of a motorcycle fork’s outer tube. It combines the front axle seat, a socket for the fork outer tube and two extended caliper mounting arms, fixing the front axle and carrying the brake caliper. The axle holder sits beside the front wheel, carrying axle load, braking torque and road impacts, and is directly visible.
AFT’s axle holders are parts with high cosmetic requirements, so forging must deliver both structural strength and exposed-surface quality. Al Forge Tech (AFT) closed-die hot forges the axle seat, tube socket and caliper arms so grain flow runs continuously through each branch; after heat treatment, the axle bore, caliper mounting holes and exposed faces are machined on 4.5-axis CNC and anodized as required.
Key Features
- Axle seat, tube socket and caliper arms forged in one piece
- High cosmetic standard: exposed faces CNC-machined and anodized
- Relative position of axle and caliper holes measured on CMM
- 4.5-axis CNC multi-face machining

Forged Aluminum Fork Axle Holder Manufacturing Process
- Drawing review and DFM: we confirm alloy, load direction and critical dimensions, then run QForm simulation to predict metal flow and defect risk.
- Die design and manufacturing: the number of die sets (for example, blocker and finisher dies) is planned around part complexity, and die contours are checked with a portable 3D scanner.
- Hot forging: closed-die forming on 600T–8,000T hot forging presses creates a continuous grain flow that follows the part contour.
- Heat treatment: T4 solution treatment and T6 artificial aging are performed in-house, with parameters set by alloy and strength requirement.
- CNC machining and finishing: holes, threads and mating surfaces are machined, followed by deburring, vibratory finishing, shot blasting or anodizing as required.
- Inspection and shipment: dimensions, hardness and chemical composition are verified with CMM, hardness testers and a spectrometer, with lot traceability kept under IATF 16949.
FAQ
Why does caliper mounting-hole accuracy matter on an axle holder?
The caliper mounting holes set the caliper’s position relative to the brake disc. If hole spacing or position relative to the axle bore is off, the caliper can sit askew, causing uneven pad wear or brake drag. After heat treatment, AFT uses 4.5-axis CNC to reduce setups so axle and caliper holes share a datum, and measures their relative position on CMM.
How are cosmetic requirements controlled on the axle holder?
The axle holder sits beside the front wheel and is a high-cosmetic part. AFT controls parting-line and flash position during forging, CNC-machines exposed faces after heat treatment, then anodizes or shot-blasts, checking cosmetic consistency on first, middle and last pieces. Where a cosmetic master sample exists, it can be confirmed at the sample stage.
Can you assess forging feasibility while the Forged Aluminum Fork Axle Holder is still in design?
Yes. Al Forge Tech works mainly as an OEM supplier, and our engineers can give design-for-manufacturability (DFM) feedback at the concept or drawing stage, such as adjusting thin ribs, abrupt section changes or draft angles to avoid laps and underfill. QForm simulation predicts metal flow early, and the results are cross-checked against our die design experience.
Is heat treatment for the Forged Aluminum Fork Axle Holder done in-house?
Yes. Al Forge Tech operates 8 T4 solution treatment units and 7 T6 artificial aging units on site, so the Forged Aluminum Fork Axle Holder can be solution treated, quenched and aged in the same facility before machining and inspection. Keeping heat treatment in-house removes inter-plant transport, reduces lead-time risk and keeps lot traceability within one quality system. Parameters are set according to the alloy grade and your specification.
Can the Forged Aluminum Fork Axle Holder be anodized or given other surface finishes?
Yes. Al Forge Tech offers anodizing (including hard anodizing), shot blasting, vibratory finishing, e-coating and painting, plus pickling and ultrasonic washing lines to clean parts after machining. Please note the finish type and film thickness on the drawing so machining allowances and cosmetic standards for the Forged Aluminum Fork Axle Holder can be evaluated together.
