Control Arm
Description
Forged Aluminum Automotive Link Control Arm (Shallow Curve): Low-Curvature I-Section Link
This shallow-curve forged aluminum automotive link control arm is a multi-link suspension link with a gentler bend than its counterpart, both bushing eyes facing the same side, and the same I-beam section with a central lightening channel. Different arm curvatures are used to clear surrounding components such as drive shafts, subframes or exhaust pipes, and to achieve the required geometry through suspension travel.
A multi-link suspension often needs several links of similar form but different curvature and length. Al Forge Tech (AFT) can plan dies and processes from the full link set so all links share the same alloy and heat treatment, simplifying part-number management and quality validation for the customer. After in-house T6 heat treatment and CNC machining, center distance and parallelism are checked on CMM.
Key Features
- Shallow-curve body clears surrounding components
- I-section with central channel for light weight and stiffness
- Alloy and heat-treatment specs can be shared across the link set
- Both bushing bores CNC-machined and CMM-measured

Forged Aluminum Automotive Link Control Arm (Shallow Curve) Manufacturing Process
- Drawing review and DFM: we confirm alloy, load direction and critical dimensions, then run QForm simulation to predict metal flow and defect risk.
- Die design and manufacturing: the number of die sets (for example, blocker and finisher dies) is planned around part complexity, and die contours are checked with a portable 3D scanner.
- Hot forging: closed-die forming on 600T–8,000T hot forging presses creates a continuous grain flow that follows the part contour.
- Heat treatment: T4 solution treatment and T6 artificial aging are performed in-house, with parameters set by alloy and strength requirement.
- CNC machining and finishing: holes, threads and mating surfaces are machined, followed by deburring, vibratory finishing, shot blasting or anodizing as required.
- Inspection and shipment: dimensions, hardness and chemical composition are verified with CMM, hardness testers and a spectrometer, with lot traceability kept under IATF 16949.
FAQ
Can different links in one multi-link suspension be developed together?
Yes, and we recommend sending the full set of drawings. AFT plans dies according to each link’s shape, length and curvature and applies a consistent alloy and heat treatment across the set. Samples can be produced and validated in the same batch, shortening development of the whole suspension and letting you manage all links to the same inspection standard.
Does link curvature affect how the part is forged?
Yes. A strongly curved link needs material distributed along the bend, which may require pre-bending the billet before closed-die forging; a shallow curve is closer to forging a straight bar. AFT confirms material distribution and fill with QForm simulation before deciding on preforms and the number of die sets.
Can you assess forging feasibility while the Forged Aluminum Automotive Link Control Arm (Shallow Curve) is still in design?
Yes. Al Forge Tech works mainly as an OEM supplier, and our engineers can give design-for-manufacturability (DFM) feedback at the concept or drawing stage, such as adjusting thin ribs, abrupt section changes or draft angles to avoid laps and underfill. QForm simulation predicts metal flow early, and the results are cross-checked against our die design experience.
How are MOQ and lead time for the Forged Aluminum Automotive Link Control Arm (Shallow Curve) determined?
MOQ and lead time depend on part size, number of die sets, alloy and machining scope, and are confirmed in the quotation after drawing review. The typical sequence is die development, forged samples, sample approval and then mass production. Sharing your annual volume and call-off schedule helps us plan dies and capacity for the Forged Aluminum Automotive Link Control Arm (Shallow Curve).
Can the Forged Aluminum Automotive Link Control Arm (Shallow Curve) be anodized or given other surface finishes?
Yes. Al Forge Tech offers anodizing (including hard anodizing), shot blasting, vibratory finishing, e-coating and painting, plus pickling and ultrasonic washing lines to clean parts after machining. Please note the finish type and film thickness on the drawing so machining allowances and cosmetic standards for the Forged Aluminum Automotive Link Control Arm (Shallow Curve) can be evaluated together.
